Alexandra Huisgen Serrano
I graduated from University of Westminster with a First Class BSc (Hons) in Chinese Medicine Acupuncture as the top student in the full-time programme. My training included practice of acupuncture at the Westminster University’s Integrated Health Clinic for Complementary therapies and the NHS Gateway Clinic in Lambeth Hospital.
Next to my degree, I accomplished a course in Chinese Medicine (CM) at Impulse-Schule e.V. in Mainz (Germany) where I attended regular seminars. I continued to refine my acupuncture clinical skills through my internship at the Zhejiang Chinese Medical University in Hangzhou (China), where I gained practical experience and first-hand knowledge in ancient techniques and Chinese medicine.
I am also trained in reiki, having attended the ReikiEnSuVida School in Barcelona (Spain). I often use acupuncture in conjunction with reiki depending on the patient’s needs and wishes. Whether a patient decides between an acupuncture treatment, reiki attunement, or both modalities, there are myriad spiritual, emotional, mental and physical problems that can advantage from these non-invasive healing practices. This is because they tackle root causes and not just ameliorating symptoms.
I have particular interest in uncovering and managing general health ailments as well as stress, anxiety and insomnia disorders. I have previously worked as a therapist in a complementary and alternative clinic in Barcelona where I helped numerous patients achieve their goals.
Currently I am studying for an MSc in Applied Positive Psychology and Coaching Psychology at the University of East London in order to help my patients find their true potential and take them from where they are today to where they want to be.
I am an active member of the British Acupuncture Council, the UK's largest professional body for traditional acupuncture and accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
